Brian Speckhals brings more than 32 years of experience in construction and related industries to his role as Vice President of the Southeast Region at Sunland Asphalt.

Brian’s introduction to construction came early — as a fifth grader he began selling sodas to workers building Interstate 476 outside Philadelphia. During high school,  he joined the laborers’ union and worked for a concrete contractor on large commercial and industrial projects. His responsibilities included digging trenches, pouring foundations, rigging for crane lifts, and raking concrete, giving him an early, hands-on understanding of the industry.

After earning his degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from the University of Connecticut, Brian joined Fluor as a Project Engineer in its Life Sciences group, working on pharmaceutical production facilities. He later became a Project Manager with Ahlborg & Sons, a commercial and industrial general contractor, where his experience included schools, multifamily developments, arenas, and other complex construction projects.

Brian’s entrepreneurial path began when he founded Doozer Construction, a restoration and construction company he built and operated for 11 years. During that time, he expanded the business into multiple markets before successfully selling the company in 2017.

Following the sale of Doozer, Brian continued his career in the restoration and construction industry, ultimately serving as Director of Operations with First Onsite Property Restoration, where he supported a portfolio of 16 offices. In addition to regional operational leadership, his responsibilities included leading national large-loss and catastrophe response efforts, opening new markets, developing operational leaders, driving organic growth, and participating in the due diligence and integration of multiple acquisitions.

Brian joined Sunland Asphalt in 2026 as Vice President of the Southeast Region, where he is focused on developing high-performing teams, strengthening operations, and driving sustainable growth across the region.

Brian holds a 50-Ton Master Captain’s License issued by the U.S. Coast Guard and a 40-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER Incident Commander Certification. His professional development also includes the President’s Certificate from the Sandler Business Development Program, Executive Presence and Persuasive Leadership through the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and Getting Things Done through the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto.

Outside of work, Brian enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters, boating, playing ice hockey and golf, and making the most of life on the Georgia coast.
