In lieu of holiday gifts to our most valued customers this year, Sunland Asphalt & Construction, Inc. (Sunland) has decided to make charitable donations to several organizations including the Phoenix Job Corps Program, U.S.VETS, Wings of Faith and the Phoenix Children’s Hospital in honor of our customers.

The Phoenix Job Corps is a no-cost education and career technical training program, administered by the U.S. Department of Labor, helps young people ages 16 to 24 improve the quality of their lives through career technical and academic training.  The program’s mission is to teach eligible young people the skills they need to become employable, independent and place them in meaningful jobs or future education.  This year, Sunland will donate 100 – $25 gift cards totaling $2,500 to the Phoenix Job Corps program.  For more information, visit https://phoenix.jobcorps.gov.

U.S.VETS has served 10,000 veterans here in the Phoenix area since 2001 and is able to support 20,000 nationwide each year. The program focuses on assisting with housing, work force development, mental health and wellness support, and case management services. U.S.VETS is on a mission to end veteran homelessness in the United State. “The streets” are simply no place for veterans; no place for the many men and women who volunteered, giving themselves and their youth, to protect our great freedoms..  Sunland is making a monetary donation $5,000 to their Phoenix location as they transition to a new location in 2021 that will allow them to serve more veterans. Wings of Faith provides on-going support and donations to missionaries mainly serving Native American populations in the United States and is committed to helping the poor, abused, hungry and forgotten people in these communities.  In June of this year, Sunland led the efforts for the Flyin’ Food Drive on the newly constructed runway at the Holbrook Municipal Airport in Holbrook, Arizona. With 27 planes flying in delivering donations, this event had over 50 volunteers that delivered nearly 10,000 pounds of supplies including non-perishable and canned food, cleaning and disinfecting supplies, and personal protective equipment such as face masks and gloves.  Monetary donations upwards of $6,000 were also donated.
