What is your title and division?
Regional Sales Manager, Phoenix Maintenance
Explain your background and experience in the construction industry. (Ex. What company did you come from? What positions have you previously held? Etc.)
I have been in sales and sales management for more than 30 years. Over the past 18 years, I have worked for Ace Asphalt building their education division before taking over sales for the Phoenix Market.
Describe your position with Sunland. What does a typical day look like for you?
Currently, I am leading maintenance sales for the Phoenix Market. Since the integration of Ace and Sunland, there has yet to be a typical day. Bringing these two dominant companies together is no small trick, but I am happy with our progress. The task is aided by the level of talent and mutual respect that both sides bring to the new organization. We still see the sales team operating in separate contact management databases, production systems, and buildings, so I look forward to bringing our people into one space to help solidify the team and our sales efforts. They are a great group of people and talented sales professionals. I believe the future is bright for the Phoenix Maintenance Division and Sunland in general. Yes, I realize that is somewhat dodging the question, but since there is nothing typical, this will have to do for now… stay tuned.
What is your favorite song?
The Weight, by The Band. Feel free to call me a retro-grouch, but this song is a slice of Americana and still holds up today.
What is a talent of yours?
Hmmm, this may not qualify as a talent, but I think I am pretty good at not getting in my own way. Perhaps that is one of the advantages of hanging around in this business so long.
What was your first job?
I started my professional career as a paper carrier for the Fargo Forum at the age of 10. I will always be indebted to that newspaper. Not for any valuable experience; I, I actually may still owe them money!
What country or place have you always wanted to visit?
Denali National Park, Alaska, or perhaps Tuscany would be better as the wine, and culinary experience in Italy might be safer than being chased by a grizzly.
