Michael Thompson serves as the President of Operations for the Mountain & Southeast regions, bringing extensive leadership, technical expertise, and a results-driven approach to Sunland Asphalt & Construction, LLC. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Arizona State University’s Del E. Webb School of Construction. He has earned a certificate in Principles of Quality Hot Mix Asphalt Paving from the Asphalt Institute. Additionally, he is an ATSSA Certified Technician and Supervisor, underscoring his deep knowledge of roadway safety and construction standards.

With over a decade of experience in the construction industry, Mike has played an integral role in managing and delivering a wide range of infrastructure projects. His expertise in project management, strategic planning, and operational oversight has been instrumental in successfully executing numerous Job Order Contract (JOC) projects for Sunland. He has overseen all aspects of road construction, from planning and budgeting to execution and quality control, ensuring that every project meets or exceeds industry standards.

Mike’s reputation for professionalism, integrity, and exceptional customer service has made him a trusted leader among colleagues, clients, and industry partners. His commitment to quality and efficiency is evident in the successful completion of projects for major public agencies, including the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) statewide, the Maricopa County Department of Transportation (MCDOT), and municipalities such as Apache Junction, Phoenix, Tempe, Tucson, and Yavapai County.

Beyond his project work, Mike remains actively engaged in industry organizations, particularly the Arizona General Contractors Association’s (AGC) Young Constructors Forum (YCF), where he collaborates with emerging industry leaders to drive innovation and excellence in construction. His leadership and dedication continue to contribute to Sunland’s success and the advancement of the construction industry.
