ADOT US 191
Safford, Arizona
Located in Graham County, the ADOT US 191 Pavement and Minor Bridge Rehabilitation project focused on enhancing a critical stretch of highway in southeastern Arizona. This effort was aimed at improving the overall condition, safety, and longevity of the roadway through targeted pavement rehabilitation, bridge tie-in improvements, and repairs to guardrail and shoulder infrastructure.
Key project elements included the milling and resurfacing of approximately 216,000 square yards of existing pavement, followed by placement of 28,836 tons of ADOT 416 asphalt mix. To improve surface durability and driving comfort, a final lift of 6,900 tons of ADOT 407 Asphaltic Concrete Friction Course (ACFC) was applied.
Special attention was given to seamless integration at bridge tie-ins, ensuring smooth transitions and structural continuity. Guardrail and shoulder repairs further supported the project’s safety enhancements.
With 90% of the work self-performed, the project demonstrates a high level of in-house expertise and execution, delivering long-term value and performance to Arizona’s transportation infrastructure.
