Combs Road – Kenworthy Road Improvements Project
Pinal County, Arizona
The project includes constructing Combs Road, from Kenworthy to Schnepf, and Kenworthy Road from Combs to Ocotillo. Combs will be constructed to provide up to three westbound travel lanes and two eastbound travel lanes, and there will be 3 total lanes on the new alignment of Kenworthy. Roadway includes raised medians and outside curb and gutter as well as all roadside drainage. There are 3 signalized intersections to be constructed throughout the near 3 miles of road work. Regional drainage improvement along the Kenworthy alignment includes a combination five cell, 10’ x 6’ / single cell 10’ x 12’ reinforced concrete box culvert to provide an all-weather crossing (100 year storm event) of Queen Creek Wash. Included in the culvert are headwalls, wingwalls, access ramp, weir structure, erosion protection elements, and grade control structures to protect and provide access to the drainage crossing. The project also includes numerous new water services, gravity and force main sewer manholes and mainline, gas line installation, and dry utilities. Substantial coordination efforts on the project include water main installation by TOQC CMAR contractor down Kenworthy Road above the box culvert, SRP overhead conversion along Combs Road, and MSIDD irrigation through the Combs/Kenworthy intersection.
